Matti Heinonen

The driving force behind Pro Audile, its founder and owner, is Matti Heinonen. From an early age, his passion for music and recordings was evident, living in close proximity to Ahti Sonninen, from whom he even borrowed vinyl records. This led him to shift from a promising sports career to choral singing with the Cantores Minores choir. This experience ignited his interest in creating music, exposing him to both music theory and choral music. Even after his voice changed, Hoffman invited him to sing with the Radio Youth Choir, a commitment he maintained until its disbandment. Two influential mentors in the art of recording for Matti have been Robert de Godzinsky and Pekka Savijoki.

Now, with over 30 years of recording experience, encompassing the production of over 1,000 CDs and numerous live concerts, Heinonen also serves as a lecturer in music technology at the Sibelius Academy. In this role, he guides students in the art of classical music recording. Matti Heinonen has additionally lent his expertise as an artistic producer on numerous records, willingly aiding in the planning phase of an album by providing insights into schedules, workflow, and optimal recording locations.

For those curious to learn more about Matti, a detailed article can be found in Sulasol magazine 1/16, titled Äänittäjäksi onnekkaiden sattumien kautta (Becoming a Recordist through Fortunate Events). In Finnish only.
